Tate Modern Trip 2009
On Thursday 29 January 2009, 64 Year 9 pupils headed off to the Tate Modern on the South Bank in London. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we made it in good time.
Pupils worked really well all day from the worksheet designed by Mr Gibbs and had great fun trying to find Pop Art and Futurist paintings to link in to their project work at school.
The Tate building is an old power station and has a massive turbine hall which houses different large scale artworks. A piece by Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster is currently on display which consists of a giant spider, hundreds of bunk beds, books and a dinosaur skeleton!
This was a great opportunity to see world famous works of art and spectacular views over London from the seventh floor.
The pupils behaved very well throughout the trip and my thanks go to Mr Gibbs, Mr Bias, Miss Vaughan and Mrs Stock for their part in making the trip a success.
